The investigations is a theme study into a number of cases of child abuse with fatal consequences. Grave child abuse occurs frequently. Experts in this field estimate that as much as 50.000 to 80.000 children a year are victims of abuse, neglect of sexual abuse. The number of children thar die every year as a consequence of abuse and neglect is not exactly known but estimated to vary from dozens to about 50.
