In line with past recommendations from the Safety Board, it is still urgently necessary to introduce a system that detects serious input errors in calculating take-off performance and/or that issues a warning of insufficient available take-off runway length, or of unusually low accelerations for the actual aircraft configuration. Focusing exclusively on tightening up operational procedures is insufficient to prevent occurrences of this kind. Also the Dutch Safety Board emphasizes the importance to secure Cockpit Voice Recorder recordings as a means of determining the facts, and as part of a safety investigation to ensure that optimum lessons can be learned.
