Erica Bakkum

Dr Erica Bakkum has been a member of the Dutch Safety Board since 1 December 2021.

“One of my strengths is connecting people and organizations. Safety is not a given for everyone. Every occurrence provides opportunities to learn lessons. I believe in using a combination of data, technical skills and the actions of people to build a better future.”

Bakkum worked as a medical specialist for many years and held various supervisory and board positions in addition to her work in gynaecology.

She was chairperson of the medical staff at OLVG Hospital Amsterdam until 2018. Subsequently, Dr Bakkum was a member of the Board of Directors at Leeuwarden Medical Center until 2021.
