The Dutch Safety Board has published the Quarterly Aviation Report over the 4th quarter of 2020, which includes a brief review of the past year. As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of commercial flights in the Netherlands was 52% lower than in 2019. The Dutch Safety Board therefore received fewer reports than during the previous year.

This quarterly report, among other things, pays attention to an occurrence in which a helicopter and a jet fighter over the North Sea came into each other’s proximity. The investigation into this occurrence shows that risks still exist from the use of the same airspace by military air traffic flying at high speed and other air traffic flying at low speed.
