Safety risks during New Year’s Eve

The Dutch Safety Board is conducting an investigation into the problems created during New Year’s Eve celebrations by fireworks, disorderly conduct and violence aimed at emergency services.

The Board intends to identify the safety risks and the measures taken to prevent or limit these problems. The investigation will focus in particular on the question of whether there are any preventive options which could ensure safer New Year’s Eve celebrations in the future.

The Dutch Safety Board is conducting this investigation partly at the request of the four major municipalities (G4: Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Utrecht).
