Bird strike involving a goose, Cessna 208B, 31 August 2016
The Cessna 208 Caravan took off in the morning, from Teuge Airport, with a pilot and six parachutists on board. The purpose of the flight was to drop these parachutists near the airport area. The aircraft was monitored during take-off by the airport’s Airside Operations Manager. The latter observed a flock of geese flying across the runway, just after the aircraft became airborne. One of the geese hit the aircraft and dropped onto the runway. The pilot of the Cessna 208B was contacted and informed that he had suffered a bird strike. Airport operations advised him not to put unnecessary strain on the aircraft, as the severity of the damage was still unknown. After dropping the six parachutists, the Cessna landed safely at Teuge and taxied directly to a maintenance hangar.
The report can be found in the Quarterly Report Aviation for the third quarter of 2016.
