Aircraft crashes into the North Sea, Cirrus SR20, 4 January 2016

Status : Closed

The Cirrus SR20, with the pilot as the sole occupant, had departed from Gloucestershire in the United Kingdom for a flight to Osnabruck Atterheide in Germany. The aircraft disappeared from the radar of air traffic control when it flew along the Dutch coastline. Parts of the aircraft have been found in the North Sea.

The accident was probably caused by the aircraft stalling after the pilot had become
disoriented as a result of the lack of visual references due to the poor visibility.
