A tug driver, who towed a Boeing 747-400, contacted air traffic control (ATC) for crossing the active runway 24. ATC assumed the tow was standing for runway 04/22. Subsequently the driver obtained crossing clearance that was in fact meant for another Boeing 747-400 tug combination and started crossing. In the meantime a Boeing 737 had received take-off clearance for runway 24 and commenced the take-off roll. The Boeing 737 was instructed to reject the take-off.
